First. World. Problems...and other things.

I'd like to start off today by ranting about my UK phone...which I know is totally and completely ridiculous, but oh well I'm going to do it anyway. As I said: first world problems.
Look at that beauty!

First of all, there's no lock or screen off button so butt dialing is a real issue. I have £10 worth of minutes on the phone before I need to add to it, and with only a couple weeks left before I go home I'm trying really, really hard to not have to add money. At first I figured there's no way I'd be able to make it the entire time without going over, but then I realized I have pretty much no one to text here...and it takes me like 10 hours to write one message on t9 so I kind of just...don't--unless I'm making calls for my company or need to reach Xela or Andrew about some earthshaddering issue. There's actually a message counter in the phone...it's been a little over 3 weeks and I've sent a total of 20 texts and used 5 minutes--compare that to what I use at home!

In all honesty it's nice to not have to be attached to my phone 24/7. At home people think you're rude if you don't answer a text within minutes regardless of where you are or what time it is, and slowly but surely the same thing is happening with email and Facebook messages. But the funny thing is I still carry my iPhone everywhere I go. It is virtually useless outside of our flat (unless I can find wifi somewhere) because I turned the data and roaming off and it has been chilling on airplane mode since I left Philly, but the thought of leaving it in my suitcase is just...no. Also it doubles as a great camera so, yeah..I'll use that as my excuse.

Anyway! This morning was the second part of our Traverse Early Leaders talk. Richard Demarco was Richard Demarco again. So classic and yet so funny. We had a full house though! Very cool.

We had Structures class at 2:30 and attempted to move class times around for the next 2 weeks to fit in an extra class show. It took a lot of maneuvering but we were able to fit Island of Doctor Moreau (Emily and MC's new company) in on Monday afternoon.

After class Katelin, Ali, Allison and I caved in and bought chimney cakes from the truck down the street from our flat. Needless to say they were delicious and completely gone by the time Katelin and I made it to the Royal Mile to pick up tickets from the Fringe shop.

For dinner we went over to Xela's flat where Athena made the most delicious mac and cheese any of us have ever had. Eilidh and Teetee are the cutest kids ever. Poor 2 year old Teetee broke her clavicle yesterday jumping on a bed... but she still insists on wearing her "pretty pink dress" though she can't move her arm enough to get it through the arm hole. She's a trooper though... still going strong with her dancing!

After dinner, Ali, Kate and I went to see Songs for a New World. I've been listening to the music since Eastern did it almost 6 years ago, and much to my surprise 2 other girls on this trip have not only heard of the show but been in it at their schools.  The venue was a church so the set was very minimalistic, but their interpretation was really interesting and much more graphic than most high schools can do.

It's Friday night so that means Summerhall Big Band...for free so that's super sweet and so much fun.
